This was the perfect combination for me. I have for a long time wanted to try making Japanese dishes besides sushi. This course taught me about many of the basic ingredients and methods. I selected going to the market with Taro first, and I am so glad I did because I wouldn't have learned so many things on my own... More

I have always wanted to do a Japanese Cooking Class and after spending the afternoon with Taro and his family I was not disappointed. There were 6 people in our class, but, before the class Taro met 4 of us about 12noon and walked through the markets We tasted many of the different foods which were for sale and Taro... More

We really enjoyed our cooking class with Taro san. Japenese food is an important part of the culture and this provided an opportinity to understand it much better. What was even more interesting for me, my wife is the cooking expert, was to spend time talking to Taro and his lovely family in their home. From getting met at the... More

Loving vegetarian food, we decided to give this cooking class a go to see the Japanese take on this type of food. We were not disappointed! Taro was a fantastic teacher, explaining everything clearly with obvious passion, and we will continue to use his recipes at home. I ate all the food we made, even the ones made with mushrooms,... I found this cooking class on Tripadvisor and thought it would be fun for my husband and I to try with our adult son and his girlfriend. Our "kids" are living in Tokyo and I thought it would be of value for them and enjoyable for us. Taro was a very patient teacher and explanations of ingredients were well done.... More

I found and booked Taro-san's cooking class entirely because of Tripadvisor, and I'm so glad I did. It gave us an opportunity to visit a Japanese home and meet the owners socially; that's something you don't get the chance to do on a normal holiday, and it opens up a whole new perspective on the country and the culture. Taro-san... More

Food can be one of the best descriptors of a culture...as I travel in and out of various places, sightseeing and camera snapping, it is often difficult to capture a little deeper insight into the culture of the people. Taro's cooking class provided the only real cultural experience I had while in Kyoto. What a privilege it was to be... More

The recipes are simple but delicious.Taro is friendly and his family is lovely. They live in a very traditional Japanese home and afterwards he gave us a tour and a small present - was one of the highlights of the trip. More

This affordable cooking class in Kyoto was one of the most memorable activities that we participated in during our stay in Japan. Taro met us at the meeting point right on time and took us on a tour along Nishiki Markets in Kyoto. Taro has an excellent command of English and gave us a lot of information on the local... More
