Get off at Gojo when you take bus 100 or others from Kyoto Station. Is a 10-15mins walk upslope provided you are not tempted to stop for gifts and snacks purchases from the shops lined on both sides of the streets towards Kiyomizu. I've been there 5 times and while there is pass the cherry blossom period, you can still... More

Scenes from the temple to the city is still the best offers. The temple is alao interesting but a bit too much walk and maynot really suit for the old people.

Magical walk up through the charming path with colourful and interesting little shops on each side. The view from Kiyomizu is wonderful and must be stunning in cherry blossom season. The incredible design and size of this temple built entirely of wooden strutts with no nails that has survived to this day is inspiring.

Given its stature of this celebrated and historic Buddhist temple, Kiyomizu-dera is perhaps the most visited temple in Kyoto. A walk through the narrow streets in the Higashiyama district leads to this temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is known for its wooden stage structure that was built without a single nail. The wooden stage is located just outside... More

This is a large complex with temples and pathways you can walk and see some very nice views from Kyoto. It is in a high part of the city, so you can see Kyoto from the top and also see many big temples and it's different colors and architectures. You will spend around 3 hours in this place.

There are so many things to see along the walk up to the temple. The temple is set far from the main road & up an incline. There are quaint homes along the way in the early stages then there are shops (selling food & knick knacks) all along the way. It's a bit like Jiufen in Taiwan.

Maybe just another temple to some but it has a beauty all its own and great views out over Kyoto. Tales of feats of strength and people daring to leap of the balcony add another dimension to this impressive building and its garden landscape. The dragon water fountain is a work of art in itself.
