This place is beautiful, peaceful, and fun to walk around and enjoy. The gardens are stunning. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom. So relaxing. Yes it is a bit out of the hectic shopping districts but well worth the journey. Actually it is only one train from the Namba station so it is VERY easy to get to.

This temple is a fantastic place to appreciate Shintoism in its traditional state. It is sparsely built and the god-trees really are the stars of the show. The lovely shrine buildings are uniquely Japanese and the way that the space is a perfect mix of natural and man-made beauty makes this a very special temple. Well worth the short train... More

Sumiyoshi Taisha is an old temple that avoided damage in World War II, and pre-dates Chinese influence. After the hustle and bustle of the Osaka city centre, it was a beautiful piece of zen. Observing the organised preparations for New Years (which are big at this temple), and a few families or couples coming to say a few prayers over... More

Pro: There is nothing wrong with this shrine, it's lovely and well-kept. Take a relaxing tram ride there. Con: But it's a little out of the way from Osaka's city centres. There is nothing spectacular here either; If you are seeing the majestic behemoth temples of Kyoto and Nara, give this a miss.

If u don't have time to go to Kyoto, this shrine is worth a visit. Huge complex, and if u lucky u can see a wedding ceremony just next to the shrine. There is a big red bridge to the shrine and the pond filled with cute turtles. Back area u can try your luck to find stones that carved... More
