even the maldives is ranked as a small country but it has a great and interesting history, i was hoping it will be explored much more .

They charge overseas visitors nearly 3 times the local rate, and theres not much to see.

A good museum, makes the most of the limited number of artifacts from Maldives and interesting Buddist roots. Plus it's air conditioned! Don't mind the gaurd who will follow you around - it's his job.
