Kamakura is one of my favourite places in Japan. I would love to recommend this place for someone who wants to visit Japanese traditional spot!! It's a japanese temple where you can see ocean as well! Beautiful place, not expensive entry fee!

Actually, we came for the huge golden Buddha statue - an Avalokiteshvara with eleven additional heads on the forehead, very unique and beautiful! - but we were surprised to also find a wonderful view over the bay which unfolds if you just stroll up a bit into the nicely kept hydrangea gardes (must be stunning when they all flower!). What... More

Hase-Dera temple is about 25 minutes walk from Kamakura station, or 5 minutes along from the Great Buddha, & is one of the prettiest temples I have ever visited. The gardens are in the traditional Japanese style & are absolutely beautiful. There is a small cave you can crouch to go into that has various shrines inside. Up some stone... More

This place is near Hase, Kamakura whihc would be a worth visit in ur day out at Kamkura. You can enjoy traditional train journey from Kamakura to Hase. this place is just 10-15 mins walk from Hase station exit. This place lies on the way to Daibutsu - Big Buddha. Visit during Sakura would add more beauty to it.

Hasadera is excellent. Although a little early for Cherry blossom the garden is well maintain and worth a visit. The tempel itself is beatiful. One cannot make pictures inside but it is worth your while. Don't forget to also go into grotto the of Benzaiten, one of the "helpers"of Buddha.

I visited this temple on a recent trip to Kamakura. It was gorgeous in it's many sights. Many trees and plants were starting to flower which really made the pictures even more beautiful. The overview of the ocean was magnificent. However, make sure you don't tempt the kites (large birds), as they will take whatever they like (there are signs... More

Our Japanese trip began with Kamakura. This was the first shrine that we have seen, dedicated to the goddess Kannon, the goddess then we have seen at several times during the trip. The setting is very picturesque, with the temple surrounded by ponds and landscaped gardens. Despite the extreme heat, this was an effective introduction to our knowledge of the... More

Spent the day in Kamakura, but this was the highlight. Likes: + Beautiful architecture and landscape + Interesting history (in English too) + Great view of coast Dislikes: - Can't photograph Hase Kannon I've seen some complaints about entrance fee, but it's only $3 and it's worth it.

A day trip to Kamakura is not complete without a visit to the beautiful Hasedera shrine in Hase. Many people combine a visit here with a trip to see the Big Buddha (Daibutsu) which is a further 10 minute walk up the road. The shrine is set at the end of a small ordinary street in Hase, about 10 minutes... More

I live in Kamakura and this is a temple I take all my visitors to. The Buddhist statues are impressive and their stories can be read about in English. The temple has two levels. The upper level with the temple buildings and statues, a view and small restaurant, and the lower level with gardens. Be sure not to miss the... More
