Great older neighborhood, however the nearby favela means burglarys are common. Nice for a drive through, some truly outstanding architecture from the days when Rio was the capitol of Brasil.

I like it so much... I've been living here for the last 30yrs... no plans no leave it, LOL Cosme Velho is the home of Corcovado Railway Station. It's a hell of a traffic jam every Summer weekend. But it's worth.

Like the Flamengo area, a place where you can catch a glimpse of old Rio. But there is really not much for tourists here.

This is the neighborhood where the train to the Corcovado mountain departs. Not much also to say about it.

bairro is quartier.in portuguese we say just cosme velho which is a part of zona sul in Rio,after Laranjeiras.great mansions,beautiful places.onyour way to Corcovado you can go around

The neighborhood where the Corcovado/Christ the Redeemer´s train station is situated is a n old and bucolic residential place, with some interesting architectural samples of colonial style, as well as gourgeous churches and squares as Largo do Boticario.
