We were fortunate enough to have this lake minutes away from our apartment. I love the Rio Beach life but my partner wanted to check this place out...i'm so glad he did. it was peaceful and lovely. We relaxed there for hours. We couldn't believe that there was lively Ipanema beach nearby! Definitely worth a visit.

This place is nice and offers a great view to see the Christ Redeemer and it is a must to see place. Surrounded by facilities (bars, restaurants, bus stop and others), this place is good for a walk and hanging around with friends.

The Lagoa is amazing. Spanning 7 km's, it is actually possible to do the tour in a little over an hour. On bike. There's plenty of people watching and a few park close by. Especially Shopping Lagoon in front of Flamengo's HQ is great for lunch (although pricey) with a stunning view. And also the childrens park ny the parking... More

So you visited the Christ Statue and Sugar Loaf and want to get away from the crowds. There is a big lake in the middle of Rio de Janeiro that many tourists miss. Don't. Rent a bike, a paddle boat or just take a leisurely walk. Stop and have a drink or get something to eat. All the while take... More

When in Rio, I always like to go for a walk7run around the lake. Nice views of the Corcovado, and possible to combine with a trip to Parque Lage, Jardin Botanicos or a trip to Ipanema. There are often people running, cycling and generally exercising on the trail around the lake, but equally it is nice to just take a... More

It's the rich folk's area. To say that it's beautiful does not describe it well. It' much more than that. LOTS OF PICKPOCKETS AND PURSE AND CAMERA SNATCHERS AROUND.

About 10 years ago the city of Rio began erecting a giant metal Christmas tree on a floating pier in the middle of the lake. At night it is lighted and changes both design and colour every few seconds. It attracts Cariocas (Rio residents) by the thousands but police keep the traffic moving. Hint: On the west side of the... Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is a nice place for outdoor sports such as running, biking, skating. You can appreciate the view while practicing your favorite exercise. If you get tired, water is available along the way (many street sellers and bars around).

I liked to bike around the lake, really cool especially in December when there is that beautiful floating Christmas tree. There are places to stop and have coconut water. It`s very close to Ipanema beach and nice change for the beach
