I was taken here on a guided tour but wished I could of spent longer here. the restaurants and bars looked excellent, however reading other reviews I think as I was on my own i probably would of been targeted. While in the city of Rio, enter this old church, it's old style, but worth a visit , located in the centre of town it easy to other attractions from here

Robbed my knifepoint on a street with other people around, in broad daylight at 4pm. 2 guys pulled up on a scooter/motorbike and demanded our bag (bolsa, bolsa!) at the roundabout on Rua Santo Alfredo and Rua Eduardo Santos, before speeding off again. Enjoyed walking through back streets. Felt like we were going local and I love that! Got to see Carmen Miranda's house too. Lots of cafe's and music. Wish we could have had more time to stay and enjoy a drink.

Santa Teresa is a bohemian neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. It offers beautiful views of the city from the top of your neighborhood. The tram ride is a must and despite reports of an accident. It was a steep walk up many steps in dodgy looking streets, but very much worth it. Cool shops, bars and restaurants, but unfortunately I didn't have enough time to explore more of this neighbourhood. I hope I'll get another chance to do so!

We just went to eat, but we're glad we came. Very sweet little quarter in the hills. Some great restaurants. Not many tourists. Felt safe walking around. Note: little tramway out of service until 2014

Stayed in Santa Teresa carnival week 2013 and I'm glad I made the decision to do that. Santa Teresa is a small community in the hills behind Rio but commute to the rest of the city is easy as its close to Gloria metro station. The hill down is fine but the
