I brought a Chinese friend here and we stood in the entryway for a good long while as I explained the meaning of the various parts of the church. There are better churches in Latin/South America, but in Sao Paulo -- particularly downtown -- you're not going to see better. A nice visit for both believers and non-believers.

I only had a small amount of time but enjoyed the brief visit to this nice basilica near the heart of downtown Sao Paulo/Old Town. Lovely mosaics, architecture, paintings and moldings.

Very very beautiful atmosphere and it is sublime to listen to the Gregorian chants performed by the monks. They also sell delicious cakes.

Visit the basilica during mass and chances are the monks will be performing Gregorian chants. The full Gregorian chanted mass starst Sunday at 7am, but other masses might have some chants too.

Even if you're not a catholic you shouldn't miss the sunday mass. The gregorian choir is an incredible experience and the church itself is very beautiful and well preserved. Don't miss the shop and the baked delicacies the monks make.

As mentioned before, if you want to visit this place, come on a Sunday morning to check out the Gregorian Monks Choir!! It is totally worth waking up early and/or staying inside the church during a very crowded mass. Also, the gregorian monks bake some excellent food, if you have time, look around for their shop and buy it. Their... More

he church is nice - historic and well preserved. But go in the sunday morning service to see one of the greatest church classic chrous possible. Arrive at least one hour earlier so you can be seated, it is often crowded.

Try getting to the basilica around 10AM so that you'll find a seating spot for the 11 am mess or else you'l stand up through it all. There is a beautiful gregorian choir (that's why so many people attend this mess) and at the exit you can buy a wide variety of delicious breads made by the monks. Tasty!
