Although parts of the rice terraces are in the process of getting repaired due to the previous typhoons, the view was still breathtaking. More

I just recently went to Batad, Ifugao to see the rice terraces. It's definitely a place to visit! It felt like I went back to the old days where there was still not much of the techi stuff. If you're into trekking, try to go to the highest village as well - it's not often visited by tourist because it's... More

This is another world! just to let you know. It is really a tourist destination for mountain lovers like me. I've hiked trails from Shenandoah valley, trails in New York & Pennsylvania, in & around Washington, DC area but nothing has prepared me for this hike/trek. For 1st timers; coming from Manila via Nueva Vizcaya, there's Ohayami bus (Ifugao owned)... More

If you are on a budget and would like to sweat out those calories, I recommend you take a tricycle to get you to the junction (at the foot of the mountain) which will take an hour drive. The driver will drop you there and you can start walking which will take about an hour or an hour and a... More

I recommend going with a guide, there are several that will arrange transportation from Manila. Now that I've been there I could probably manage it on my own, but it was a little complicated, bus, jeepney, hiking in etc. I wish we had more time, overnight bus to Banaue, hiking into Batad, one night there, then back to Manila the... From Banaue, it will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to the Saddle Point. All vehicles are only allowed up to this point. From the Saddle Point, it would take another around 1 hour and 30 minutes of walk down to the registration area which overlooks the Batad Rice Teracces. Most of the inns are located here.... More

there are two great things to see in batad - the Batad Rice Terraces and the Batad Falls. Hike and have fun. Dont forget to bathe in the Batad falls. It's one great experience. Also have a taste of the cheese omelet after you hike. :) More

if you are looking for a place to trek in the Philippines, the Batad Rice Terraces is the best place for you. The people in Ifugao are hospitable enough to accommodate tourists of all sorts. When me and my 4 friends visited this place, it was a breathtaking experience with all the fresh aura of the environment and naturally carved... More

The terraces are really absolutely gorgeous! I recommend getting a guide - the trail is mostly clearly marked, but it's nice to have someone to show you through the terraces (and part of your fee to the guide goes to help maintain the terraces and protect the local environment). My guide was Margie - if you are a woman traveling... More
