One of the oldest residential parts of Chennai, the tank is a part of the seventh century Kapaleeshwarar Temple. This is also the place where the famous Tamil poet, Thiruvalluvar, was born. If you are spending a few days in Chennai, you will understand the importance of this state figure from the number of references made in signs, names of shops and statues. The quintessential travel phrase, "overwhelming sights, sounds, smells," fits perfectly in this area. The narrow streets around the temple are buzzing with activities. Flower sellers, archaic shops selling temple offering ingredients and such line the roads leading to the temple. A photographer’s dream, this place is best explored in the morning, the chosen time to pay homage at the temple. « less

Quite nice to wander here and there to get some real Hindu atmosphere,... More

Love the old world charm that Mylapore has. Visit the famous Kapaleeshwar Temple, or shop around for everything you need related to God, and poojas. Pick up the freshest vegetables and fruits and freshly ground filter coffee, from Leo's. A place you shouldn't miss visiting.

This is one of ancient places in Chennai and I stayed for nearly 4 years with my family. Located or called heart of Chennai, it stood so accessible for our daily/ weekly drives. Except traffic, this place is a expensive place for a pleasant stay. You are not far from shopping malls, movies or fine-dining in and around.

Stunning butter ball, old sea temple and Pandava caves is something which is really worth watching. It was raining and hence we missed tiger caves.

Hi, This is a crowded place ridden with small streets and traffic jams. but being a brahmin community area, you get all sort of authentic temple prasad like food. As well, you have enough options for food and transport from this place
