We visited the Botanical Gardens because we were looking for an inexpensive date, but we would have paid to visit the Botanical Gardens. The gardens are beautiful year round, and very well kept. Even in the early spring, there is plenty to look at as you wander through the vast area that the gardens cover. There are nice trails and... More

We made an unplanned overnight trip to Birmingham this weekend. We went to the botanical gardens this morning. It was beautiful, well kept and free. It was a great way to spend the morning together. The rose garden and crepe myrtle gardens were great. It's apparently open 365 days a year. I highly recommend it. They are renovating the conservatory.... More

I haven't been to the Gardens in a long time but the times I have attended really enjoyed the look. The flowers are so well taken care of and the guided tour was great!

This botanical garden was much larger than I expected and even in the dead of winter had flowers and camellias blooming. I had the grounds pretty much to myself and thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese Tea Garden and even had a bit of company from the resident geese who followed me around. Once I got back to the main building there... More

First, this is a FREE botanical garden. It has several features on its site. I could only go to 2 areas in one afternoon. The wetlands was great. The wildflower was my favorite. So many wildflowers and trees were in bloom. An added bonus was the heavenly scent of the wildflowers. We had prearranged a tour by John Mannion. His... More

We visited in February. The gardens are huge and oh, so beautiful. Even the bare trees are sculptural. Lovely benches and swings by the side of the many paths, are great for resting and enjoying the surrounding view. A great deal of walking is required and it is well worth the effort. The Japanese gardens are exceptionally beautiful all year... More

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens are easy to get to, being just across the lovely tree-lined road from the Birmingham Zoo. The gardens are free of charge and require at least 2 hours to enjoy thoroughly. However, as there are large greenhouses, several wooded walking trails and numerous different types of gardens, a visitor can spend several hours walking, reading the... More

If you like flowers and beautiful landscapes, this is the place for you. I like to walk all over the grounds any time of the year, eat in the restaurant or just sit in the library. Well maintained throughout the year.
