I got in love with Costa Rica and I like a lot the little town of Santa Elena and specially the small cheese factory, more than a critic I want to give a suggestion to the people that follows the comments written in tripadvisor from the cheesefactory. You should lower the cheese prices to attract more touring and visitors, this... More

Just stopped in for some ice cream. It was good, but wouldn't say it's as amazing as many reviewers make it out to be. Nice on a hot day though!

I know it's Costa Rica but dang its expensive cheese! Didn't go on the tour but saw through the viewing window, it would be best for kids but not too exciting.

We stopped here hoping to find some good cheeses at good prices. But we quickly discovered that the cheese was more expensive than what is sold at the grocery stores. Same product...higher price.

It is a cheese tour, the cheeses were good, and it was interesting to learn about the history of the area, but it was a typical tour of a cheese factory. The ice cream was just ok at best, nothing special, but it was worth a visit if you have time.

We ordered milkshakes and some cheese from the factory and they were amazing. The ice cream was creamy, and tasty. The cheese was fresh, and some of the best cheese I've ever had.

Did not take the tour, but had italian cheese sandwiches in the cafe, and one of the best chocolate milkshakes ever!!

I guess I'm not sure what I really expected. Our guide was very knowledgeable with the history so kudos for that. We got a quick view from a window of part of the cheese making operations then we went into a room and she presented a slide show with some of the same history she told us at the beginning... More

This was our first stop and how appropriate that turned out to be. It was the cheese factory that provided the revenue source for the original 12 Quaker families that came to Monteverde to "dodge" the draft according to their beliefs. So in addition to seeing how the cheese is made, we came away with a foundation in Monteverde's history.... More

We went to the cheese factory right after new years, expecting to pay the $10 for the tour. We were then told that the price of the tour had increased by $2 as it was the new year. A 20% increase seems quite hefty, if you ask me. The tour itself was informative, though there isn't a whole lot to... More
