Enjoyed the coffee plantation tour. The dayof our tour, unfortunately it was very overcast and could not see the crater. Make sure you have a raincoat, as it tends to rain daily.

I've never seen the crater of a volcano, highly recommended for nature lovers. The crater is huge, and through a path you can reach a beautiful lagoon.
You need luck to see the lake because is usually ver foggy;however the experience of being in an active volcano is awsome and the panoramic view of the valley is just amazing.Besides you can enjoy great tipical food and strawberries with cream.
I visited Poas as part of a combo tour that also went to the Doka Coffee Plantation and La Paz Waterfall Gardens (my review of La Paz is already up and the one for Doka will be coming soon).
I really enjoyed the visit to the volcano. The crater is very cool to see and will give you some nice...

After a 1 hour bus ride from Alajuela we visited volcano Poaz. Try to visit as early as possible, before the clouds and the tourist groups roll in... The park is not that large; you will be able to do all trails and see everything in half a day. Nice souvenir shop onsite.

The view was fantastic and I was very fortunate that the mist cleared for me to be able to take lots of photos!
Going up thru the trails to reach the crater is a challenge to your lungs, need to make some stops for adjusting your breathing affected by the altitude, after a while you are in the top enjoying an amazing view of the crater with the clouds of smoke coming out letting you know the power and strength of nature, There...
