Kirstenbosch encapsulates South Africa's biodiversity and it remains a favourite destination for a relaxing outing while appreciating our Cape Floral treasure. Enjoying an outdoor concert in Kirstenbosch is an added bonus as the performance is heightened by the natural beauty of the surroundings.

A good place to unwind with a walk around the tranquil gardens also enjoying the lovely sculptures (including many by Dylan Lewis) and a cuppa with cake at the coffee shop. You may even be lucky to get in an open air concert on some Sunday afternoons. Moyo Restaurant is also situated there and is highly recommended for some special... More

I had the most amazing visit to the gardens and a I was blown away by the sheer variety of botanical treasures and the breathtaking landscapes of cape town and table mountain. The paths are well marked and there is abundant biodiversity of flora.

If you have time while in Cape Town, please be sure to visit the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. We took the Open Top, Hop On/Hop Off Blue Bus from the Cape Town Waterfront to the Gardens. We were able to purchase our tickets on the bus. It was a beautiful way to see the city. The flowers are beautiful and... More

The gardens were beautiful and well maintained and planned. We enjoyed a relaxing stroll and it was a peaceful place to experience. We were there late in the day and it was amazing to see the sun begin to set over the mountain.

Very large area with many hiking trails, ranging from an hour to whole day. Bordering Table Mountain on the south-eastern side. Good souvenir store.

a really lovely botanical gardens, very interestingly laid out with lots of information and an excellent big tearoom/café. Better than Kew, I thought, and in a beautiful setting at the foot of mountains. Allow two or three hours plus time for lunch.

The gardens were beautiful and I can see why it would be a wonderful place to visit in Spring but we went at a bad time. In April everything had just died so it felt very pointless to be there. We would look at all the plaques and dead flowers trying to imagine what they looked like in bloom. It... More
