I have had the honor of visiting all 4 Ruins out in the Province of Misiones, Argentina and enjoyed each and every one! This particular one goes back to the year of 1610 when the priests Jose Cataldino and Simon Masceta founded the San Ignacio Mini mission in the area of Guayra together with some other missions which suffered from... Great information in many languages. Some audio displays not functional which is unfortunate but there's so much restoration still needed and funds only go so far. Nonetheless, really worthwhile. This is the only mission I visited - I think it is enough but there are more in the area if you are so inclined. Light and sound show at night... More

I enjoyed seeing this place and learning about history of the missions in this part of the world. Museum is quite good, and worth spending some time there. Seeing the Sound and Light Show at night should be a must. So nicely done! Take a tripod for your camera. It was a very pleasant way to finish a day in... More

The mission ruins tell a fascinating story of the Jesuit efforts to convert and civilize the Guarani. I speak English, and paid for an English guide. The young woman was studying tourism and had an internship of sorts at San Ignacio. She did a wonderful job telling the story, sometimes asking for help with English, but also teaching me a... More

San Ignacio Mini is a piece of colonial history. You can learn on the daily life of jesuit misionaires and guaranis indians some centuries ago. WOrth to visit if you like history and interested on ancient cultures and spanish colonization. Attractive infrastructure. More

If you appreciate history you would definitely appreciate the sights of San Ignacio Mini. Although not in the best conditions you can begin to envision what it was like upon hearing the stories. That's if you manage to get a English-speaking tour guide to explain everything. You start out in a tiny museum and move on to the entrance of... More

The title says it all. The ruins are not in that good condition. The entrance is the only thing that is somewhat impressive. I enjoyed my two days in San Ignacio though. Nice little town. More

I was in the Jesuit reductions in San Ignacio in February 2010. In summer in the heat. I could see for yourself how The Jesuits have done a tremendous job and Guarani Indians. Today were, unfortunately, only ruins. I recommend visiting this place. More

I was there in 2008 and I have a wonderful day. It's a beautiful place with lots of history. The ruins are incredible and not because they are in good state but for the quality and beauty of the stone carving. The details, designs and engraved in the stone are really wondrous. I recomend that if you really want to... More

My wife and I visited these ruins in March of 2006. I had read a lot about them and was excited to visit. We even stayed in a small hotel in San Ignacio to see them. We went after visiting the ruins at Trinidad, Paraguay. The entrance to the ruins was more interesting than Trinidad. However, the ruins don't really... More
