It is a great park. The trails are well marked but beware of bikes. It is easy to get to .Parking is doable dogs should be leashed.

Really nice park for enjoying the beauty of nature and all sorts of outdoor activity. Put on sunblock, bring water, and just go exploring.
Disappointing. Dirty, trashy and very loud (blaring) mexican music coming out of 5 or more vehicles. I think they were trying to have a music competition to see who's car speakers would blow first. Dirty diapers on the wall. Will never go back. This used to be a fun hang out for me and my family years ago. I feel...

Very large, great place to ride your motorcycle to or just take to the top and chill out. Spectacular views fronm the top. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting - come an hour before sunset and you will be amazed.
drive up and look at the view--rangers are so friendly and always picking up garbage--love the desert cacti, you can even rent a horse--but the views at night are spectacular perfect too sneak a kiss with that special someone--but keep in mind that they close the front gates at 7--too drive up--thanks phoenix rangers and south mountain for the memories created...
This is one of several parks in Phoenix's collection of mountain preserves, all of which are marvels of natural habitat preservation in the midst of major city traffic. The best things about South Mountain are the views of downtown Phoenix. Many picnic sites are available. And it's a great place to view spring flowers in bloom in the desert. Fairly...

Great place for a little picnic at sundown to see the sunset and city lights come on. Unfortunately the smog limits the view and clouds moved in both nights we were there so the sunset was not that great. The area is very nice with lots of places to sit and you can see the whole valley from there. Great...

what a neat park at the doorstep to such a large city. Well worth spending some time at. I only had a few hours so went to the top of the mountain over look and watched the sunset! NICE
Having visited Phoenix for 20+ years, we only just discovered South Mountain and its superb view of the city & valley. I can't speak for anyone walking up but the drive takes 10 mins, its free and the views well worth it.
Takes you back in time. The Saguaro's are humongus! Don't forget to see Scorpion Gulch there! I am a Native and this place is always new to me!
