I heard about it despite little fanfare. We spent 4 hours at the museum until closing and it was not enough. This is probably one of the best museum experience we have had. Of course, we need a prior appreciation for music and history. If you go, plan plenty of time, and take your time to review and study the... More

I love this museum and joined as a member as it has so much to offer. They have performances every week, new exhibits, artist workshops and a great café. I bring everyone that visits us in Az and they love it as well.

We went to the Mim as we call it in Phoenix. It is a huge three story building. Takes all day to move through each exhibit. The first floor has an integrative room where you can play instruments. There is an audio so when you walk up To the exhibit it begins to tell you about it. Pretty cool! Nice... More

Great place to get out of the heat and spend a few hours. Fascinating displays cover instruments from all times and all countries!

I have been a musician now for over 20 years, and have traveled the world and seen some pretty cool instruments, played in early music ensembles and seen even more cool instruments, but even I was completely taken aback (in a good way) by the sheer number and variety of instruments the MIM has. The organization of the instruments borders... More

We did this yesterday. First off, it really isn't inexpensive but the money is well spent. This is an amazing museum. If you have kids below the age of 10 who aren't serious musicians they most likely will be bored to tears after a short period of time. You really need a full day to see and experience the whole museum.... More

Wow! I have heard of the MIM but never took the time to go and see what it was all about. We took an out of town guest there basically to get out of the heat. I will have to go back and spend more time there, as the hour and a half we were there only gave me a... More

I highly recommend everyone visit this museum. My friend, his parents and myself spent over four hours there last week. They visit museums every chance they get, I rarely go to museums. We could've spent a lot more time but we didn't arrive until 1 pm and closing time was at 5 pm. The upper level of the museum is... More

This is one of the most interesting museums that I've ever attended. The self guided tour with headphones that engage at many items is a bonus. Each country all over the globe contributed to the diversity of the music that is housed in the MIM. It is much larger than it appears from the street and is an all day... More

This museum is probably one of the most interesting that I've ever been to. It is divided geographically: Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, etc. Most of the displays are countries, showing traditional instruments from various regions. When you pay for admission, you are given a headset. When you're standing in front of the displays, you can hear and watch a... More
