Very nice winding road above Sedona. Great views and some nice places to purchased Native American artwork!

There's really no other word to describe this drive. Worth the time and easy to access. And not one of those drives where there's a long commitment.

Years ago, this was a treacherous and horribly frustrating stretch of narrow two lane road, but it has been wonderfully updated to a safe and fun drive with spectacular vistas at multiple pullouts. Pay attention when traversing the roundabouts for those who aren't used to them. Excellent vistas can be had a sunrise and sunset.

As recommended by everyone, we took the SR 179 into Sedona. It was a great introduction to the red rocks. There were pull overs to take photos. Heard about the 179 from a classica american drive book, and was not disappointed. Great views from different angles of the Sedona red rocks that seem to come out of nowhere, and change their appearance and color with the movement of the sun and light. Very pretty area and great drive to take.

One of the best drives i have ever done. Absolutely gorgeous. You will see multiple red rocks on this drive. Will recommend stopping at every scenic view point and taking pictures. Okay, so there are roundabouts now, and not everyone likes those, but the new SR179 road between I-17 and 89A is less congested and dangerous than it was before. Now, even the driver can stare in awe at the towering red rocks! Plenty of parking off-road for hiking trails and well-marked scenic vistas.
