This is a beautiful example of a modern Burmese pagoda and temple. Do yourself a favor and go early. We got there at 7:15 in the morning and it was just us and a collection of young monks. We had a great time, and just soaked up the atmosphere, including the 10-year old monk singing Gangnam style. This place is... More

Shwezigon Paya is much smaller than Shwedagon but still has many small altars to see full of various Buddha statues. If you are there during the hot months (as we were) your feet will certainly feel the heat as you walk around on the stone/marble floors with no shade. Outside the temple there are lines of vendors who can be... More

the temple is beautiful, calm and quiet inside, with tourists and locals faithfully sacrificing Buddha. when you visit here you can feel the ancient atmosphere how myanmar people in the past stick with their beautiful culture. but outside the temple where is the small market that sell souvenirs is not so.

We cycled here from New Bagan and it really was worth the effort, as the temple is pretty spectacular. We were there at lunchtime and the temple was really quiet, so a great time to take photos. It did feel like you were walking over hot coals at times though and I seriously burned my feet so was hopping around... More

We left this temple for our last day...slightly disappointed. It was quite grubby and the novice monks were a bit pushy. The women in the market were very pushy....grabbing hold of us and forcing things into our hands. Not my favourite place.

A very nice white temple complex with a gold pagoda. Free entrance but a camera fee may apply. Worth starting here your trip around Bagan.

This was located in Nyaung U. When I saw my airline boarding pass, I was confused because I knew that I was supposed to go to Bagan. Bagan is near Nyaung U. It was a long walk through the corridors and shopping stalls to get to the pagoda. It was impressive but a lot less crowded. As in the other... More

This is well worth a visit as it's a beautiful temple with a variety of architectural styles. It's a live temple so dress modestly (cover shoulders and knees) and be prepared to take off your shoes. There is loads to see here, allow at least an hour, and you might want to do some shopping on the way in as... More

The only part I found off-putting was the number of people who "volunteered" to pose for photos for a donation. Otherwise, a beautiful place.
