We went there for Sat night Mass. The historic church has been kept up well for 200 years. The pianist was Extremely talented and cantor's voice complimented it perfectly. Will go back for Mass when we are in the area.

In a state where so much is new, the Carmel Mission is a true treasure. One truly steps back in time in the thick adobe walls of the museum, filled with artifacts, paintings, and historically furnished rooms. The courtyard is serene and lovely, and the church itself is moving, with its charming decorations and air of antiquity. A beautiful, tranquil... More

This Mission is so beautiful. It is one of the most peaceful places on the peninsula to visit. The beauty and the history just take my breath away. This should definitely be on everyone's list when visiting the area.

We always like seeing the missions of California when we get a chance - so much history. Our main reason for going to Carmel this time though was to meet with family from Florida but after we parted we decided to visit the mission before starting our drive home. There was more to actually see than we thought there would... More

This is a great find in Carmel. We were tired of walking along the streets looking at stores and art galleries and so walked about 20 minutes to this mission, which was a great way to spend an hour or so. It's in the length process of being restored, but they're doing a wonderful job and lovingly restoring it, which... More

This is a great historic mission and a good place to visit. The garden near the entrance and the flowers and vegetables surrounding the courtyard are so beautiful. There are two fountains and a few small museums. The church was closed for construction.

We stopped at this Mission on our way to Monterey. At the time we stopped, it was a Sunday and Mass had just begun, so we did not have a chance to actually go inside and take pictures. We only could see from the front doors. However, the gardens around the Mission are beautiful. If you go, be sure to... More

To strengthen their claim to the California coast the Spaniards established a string of church missions. The mission in Carmel was among the first. Judging from the historic pictures the place was in decline for a number of years but has since been very lovingly restored, In fact, while we were visiting restoration was continuing. Visitors will be impressed by... More

YES, THIS is one of my very favorite missions, with SANTA BARBARA being my most favorite mission, Try to schedule it for going to Mass, once we went to a concert in the mission, and that was really something to sing home about,
