Ive been prospecting for a few years now, and my 5 yo son is just getting to where i can take him to more difficult places to get to! On our way back from a trip to the south Stanislaus, i saw this mining camp on the side of james town road! I jotted down the number on the posted... More

Last year (April of 2012) my son and his best friend fell in love with the show "gold rush Alaska" and started panning every stream in New Jersey, with the expected results. Feeling bad for them, I agreed to take them to where the gold is for spring break. I found gold prospecting adventures from their website and called. After... More

My son is ten. In fourth grade they're studying the Gold Rush, so for spring break I took him to Gold Country for our annual father-son trip. We booked a five-hour panning and sluice adventure, and we had such a good time on Saturday that on Wednesday we did another five hours. Our guide, Dustin, was great -- likeable, patient,... More

My daughter and I decided to have a father/daughter day and decided to go to the "Mother Lode" for a gold prospecting adventure. We found a marvelous place in Jamestown called Gold Prospecting Adventures. The store had all the gold mining equipment, books and the store clerk looked like an authentic gold miner from the gold rush era. We paid... More

My girlfriend's 9-year old son has a gold obsession and has been begging me to take him gold prospecting for the last year. We found ourselves with a free weekend recently and decided to do a quick/spontaneous trip. Although it seemed like the wrong time of year (mid-January, 45 degrees outside) to be wading out into a California cold stream... More

I am so impressed with this place. Right on the path to the old west, the storefont sits right on the very street there were prospectors and cowboys and merchants back in the 1800's Brent and Dustin greeted us as we entered and we were immediately feeling like it was our home. These guys are great. They know the business... More

Our first stop on a vacation trip through the foothills and on to Yosemite was Jamestown to take a chance on finding some gold! We really didn't have a plan but when we walked into the storefront on Main St we found all we needed in one place. The store has all the supplies for prospecting for gold like pans,... More

My wife always had panning for gold on her bucket list. Well, she can now cross that off her list thanks to Gold Prospecting Adventures. We had reserved a 3-hour trip after having seen all of the glowing reviews of this company. Those reviews turned out to be very accurate. Brent, Bree, and Dustin were just wonderful. They all clearly... More

We did the full prospecting tour, panning and using the sluice. The three hours went fast and Dustin was very informative on just what to do. There is work involved to use the sluice but you usually do find gold. My wife and I found about forty dollars worth. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Memories forever
