This place has a very nice view of San Diego. There has been continued controversy over the cross and whether it should go down. Last I heard it was bought up by a private land trust to skirt the church-state issue. The cross is more than a religious symbol here, it is an icon for the area. It is worth... More

We took one of the mapped scenic drives up the coast, which included a stop at Mount Soledad. The views from the top are indeed majestic and you can see for miles, but the roads leading to the lookout area are incredibly steep with some hidden roads (causing some suprising traffic). The trip back down wasn't as bad, just be... More

Mount Soledad is literally the pinnacle of La Jolla. From this vantage point the entire community can be seen as well as the ocean beyond. To the north are the communities of Del Mar and Solana Beach and to the south San Diego and Mexico. I recommend the drive up the windy hill to the east. Enjoy the view along... More

This mountain top with the comforting white cross is a beautiful symbol in San Diego that can be seen miles away. I have been going here since I was a kid and continue on til past my college years. Breath-taking 360 views of the whole city. A must seen location for taking visitor for a cost free drive.

One outhouse provided on Mount Soledad. Not nearly enough for the crowd it attracts. Otherwise, beautiful overview of LaJolla Shores to one side and San Diego on the other. The cross is inspiring and the whole area is interesting.

Great way to honor those who fought in the war...there was even a family who lost 3 sons and I can never imaging the anguish that the parents went through. Mount Soledad offers a 360 degree view of San Diego. From Pacific beach, just follow the sign that goes up to the hill past the nice La Jolla homes..Make sure... More

It is great place for views day or night and is a nice drive up the mountain. Great place to take photos so bring your camera. It is best at sunset and you have a 360 degree view of San Diego and the ocean.

My family and I were actually on our way to the beach and we turned the corner and we gasped & our mouths dropped! It was the most beautiful thing that I've ever seen! This was the highlight of my trip to San Diego, CA. This was a great find! Picture perfect views! We will definitely plan a trip back... More
