We were nearby admiring the architecture in the Biltmore, and decided to also visit the Central Library. Beautiful building -- go to the Rotunda on the 2nd floor and wander around. Don't miss the amazing historical murals in the Childrens' Library.

Fun Art Deco building to wander through on your way to dinner. Near Maguire gardens and all the downtown high rises.
A wonderfully designed and large library, LACL is one place you should never miss when in LA. This library with a little more than 80 years of history conducts tours daily at 12.30 pm which is recommended. But don't forget to get a self guided tour in case you missed the day's tour. The murals, sculptures and the chandeliers are...

I like the ambient and very much the collection. Nice place to take some book and read! There is a souvenir shop with interesting things.
Definitely plan to do a self-guided tour though this wonderful building. Each room is cool and the murals and chandeliers on the 2nd floor are great.
For the faint hearted senior who prefers to use public transit this is an easy destination point. It really is a space worth seeing - especially the magnificent Children's room and special exhibitions - it is grand in the way that you expect a library to be grand!
Our LAPL experience was so interesting. We took a guided tour, learning about both the new and old architecture and feeling so appreciative of how knowledgeable our guide was. We did a bit of research and marveled at the collections. If you go on a Saturday, parking is only $1.
The library has a unique architecture which is good for photography. I was quite surprised to see a lot of homeless people in the park outside the building as I visited early in the morning. Didnt has a chance to explore inside the building. :D
