This is a fabulous place to bring budding ornithologists who want to view egrets through the nesting, mating, deliver of new chicks cycle. It's a great day trip out of the City-breathtaking drive up Panoramic Highway too. Audubon Canyon Ranch is an excellent place to begin with an overview. Bring your binoculars and a picnic.

This is a local's favorite and a popular attraction. The lagoon is tricky to visit - parking is very limited and the tides are a big factor. I have seen low tide with the water out 1/4 a mile or a high tide, where surfer's were getting trapped up against the cliffside. The beach is cobbley and very charming. The...

Combine your visit to Audubon Canyon Ranch with stops at the lagoon to watch the egrets and herons feed, and if you are lucky, watch ospreys hunt! Lots of other waterfowl too.
