This museum is the perfect sized collection. It has good quality art pieces from all the major periods and well-known artists. Dutch masters, impressionists, modern paintings, sculpture, ancient Chinese artifacts etc. It has just enough of the major periods to give you a sense of the period but is not overwhelming. In addition, it has special exhibits - some better... More

We took a casual stroll through the Rodin Sculpture Garden. Stunning. It was a beautiful sunny day and the light on the sculptures brought out the power of Rodin. The Gates of Hell , mounted on the museum wall really needs hours to absorb. On separate pedestals were the heads of some of the characters in his famous Burghers of... More

The title probably says it all. It is worth visiting once, but probably not twice in the same year since there is not much to do.

Fantastic museum with a detailed collection, especially the contemporary art. Wait until the Anderson Collection arrives! Best place to eat on the Stanford campus.

This is a great little art museum with lots of interesting pieces. There is a range of different types of collections, as well as usually a guest exhibition as well. Outside there are several nice Rodin pieces in the garden area. The gift store here is very nice - I have purchased several items here to give as gifts to... More

Really nice place to end up after a *free* museum trip. Great outdoor seating, fresh, organic food options. I believe even the hotdogs are Nieman ranch - nice to have such an option for the kiddos.

We've seen such a range of compelling exhibits over the years. There's a nice modern art collection, also. The Rodin Gates of Hell are outdoors. well lit in the afternoon light. Visits to the gift shop and the outdoor cafe complete your experience.

Located on the Stanford Campus, this is one museum you won't want to miss. I particularly enjoyed the Rodin sculpture garden and gallery. Later it was fun to check out the book and gift shop. Admittance was free which surprised me. Truly a lovely art museum.

There is a surprisingly large collection of beautiful art. If you live relatively close to Stanford, it is a great way to spend half a day doing something fun and educational, with the kids or without.

One of my favorite pieces by Richard Serra is "Sequence". I specifically went to the museum to see this piece and was surprised by the number of Rodin's owned by the museum. The larger Rodin pieces are located outside and can be visited anytime and include "The Gates of Hell" as well as a number of the larger individual statues.... More
