I opened a bottle of Cooper Sangiovese yesterday and felt compelled to write this review. The wine is a 2009 vintage purchased on our 7-20-2012 visit to the winery. This wine is excellent, bold with plenty of oak and slightly smokey notes. Many times I get the wine home and taste it and wonder what I was thinking, but this... More

Cooper has consistently great wines in a beautiful setting and free tasting. The winemaker came out and spent time answering questions and teaching us about wine. His passion for making great wine is obvious and it shows in every bottle.

Cooper's Barbera is worth stopping in for, as is the Viognier. All the wines are good, but the Barbera really shines here. Their wines are pricier than some in the area, but definitely delicious.

We bring friends to Cooper often. It's one of the foothill's better wineries, with an abundant assortment of varietals. Dick Cooper is known for his grapes and many wineries buy from him.The servers are always pleasant and knowledgable. Expect the tasting room to get crowded on the weekends.

You will hear about Cooper in many tasting rooms and not just in Amador county. There are many good reasons that end in just splendid red wines. We have been here four times over the years and have never been disappointed. The Sangiovese is just splendid.

A nice setting for a tasting. On warm days, the grounds would be a nice setting for a picnic. The staff were fun and informative. We enjoyed the Barbera best.

I visited Cooper Vineyards for the second time last weekend. Their property is beautiful and the tasting room is large and really nice. You can schedule a private tasting at a table or cozy up to the tasting bar. I love that it is family ran and owned. Excellent wines and small munchies (cheese, crackers, etc). Their Barbera is top... More
