SJC is pretty bland and has very little personality. However the SJMA is really good and usually has some great things going on. They usually have some kind of weekend events for kids which personally i think is a bummer because it ruins the museum going experience, however its great for families.

The Cafe validates parking... they don't have parking there and don't validate. Trendy to the point it is boring to me (Asian theme of struggling with identity, paintings of the body natural with its imperfections, and blah, blah. Not family friendly, which is sort of refreshing in a way, but...and then it is in the classical old post office building... More

Great diversity and interesting exhibits that encourage the young and old to see what they can share from the images...

It was a nice experience, but I was a little shocked how small it was. To be fair I'm from Chicago, so I'm used to Museums being pretty large.

I love this museum. It's just right for San Jose: historic, eclectic, unpretentious, well-run, and relaxed. I stop by after mass at the Cathedral or any time I'm walking by. The exhibits are always well presented and interesting. The museum seems to strive to portray the energy and diversity of my hometown. It's also a great use of the historic... More

The SJMOA is like a stepchild to its better endowed siblings. It is hard to grab the attention of the art tourists who love to bag the '1001 paintings' approach without a permanent collection of world class trophies. Still, it pays to keep your eyes open. The Eric Fischl's exhibition is a rare opportunity to see the hit and miss... More

I arrived in time for the 2:30 Tour. The docent's name was Laurie and she did an excellent job. She was very generous with her time. We talked and toured for about an hour. She encouraged me to see some of the other local attractions. I then spent some time on my own exploring the permanent collection. The gift shop... More

Excellent collection, I would do the guided tour next time, seems that they have an Art expert description guided tour, but I couldn't fit their schedule with mine, next time...

Hey, art lovers...the San Jose Museum of Art is pretty good. Granted, it's not the Louvre or the Musee d'Orsay, but it's a good, cheap, thought-provoking experience. The exhibits range from weird to extraordinary. I've been to many of the greatest art museums in the world and this isn't one of them, but I have to say that I was... More
