The Soda Lake area is fascinating and can be beautiful, depending on when you go. It's at its best in springtime, especially if we've had enough rain. Don't forget to check out the dramatic example of the San Andreas fault impact on the north side.

Have been to Soda Lake a number of times, during spring, fall and winter. Beautiful wildflower blooms if you hit it at the right time in the spring - watch the "Desert Wildflower alert" websites for California Valley to find out how the wildflowers are faring. This area is also a famous stopover for rare migratory waterfowl, some of which... More

Always worth a visit! Amazing when everything is in bloom! My husband andI spent a day just hiking around taking photos, it was an amazing experience. This is a great area to take kids to learn about California's abundant wildlife

California is just a beautiful State! Soda Lake is in the country. Make sure you have plenty of gas in your car. Spring flowers are fabulous! Pack a lunch and enjoy! Wonderful side roads. Stop at Pozo Saloon for some history and food.

If you're looking for some very interesting scenery, you'll want to drive out to Soda Like. There is a good lookout point where you can see for miles. This is the best dead lake I've ever seen! Ther eis a very intersting history from before the water was stolen from it. However, the very interesting part is the San AndreasFault.... More

Great wildflowers in spring, very remote gas up before heading out, no nearby services. You have a chance to see a California Condor.

We stumbled across this on the roundabout way back from Hearst Castle enroute to Tehachapi. If you are in the area you should go see it. The only thing out here is the marker and a bathroom (no running water).

The best time to visit the Carrizo Plain is during the spring wildflower bloom...unbelievable expanses of color...check the hunting regs, lead ammo not allowed...
