This tree is impressive. Within walking distance of the beach area, next to the Amtrak station. The root system is spectacular -- it grows above ground. There's also one at the Mission Santa Barbara but not as big.

We had been on the lookout for the giant fig tree and had not found it after several trips. This last time we went on the Land Shark tour and they drove us by it. It really is large and quite impressive but I wouldn't go out of my way
This was a beautiful sight. So big and unique. We took quite a few pics of it. The only thing, it's kind of off the beaten path and you have to look for it.
This is an amazing tree at the Four Seasons. It's beautiful and would be a nice climbing tree, but you're not supposed to do that of course.
Flanked by the Hwy 101 concrete structure on one side, private parking lots on another, and inhabited by street people who seem to be freely camping out in its giant, historical root system, the amazing natural wonder seems to have been pushed to the side by the city in favor of the elitist, high-end malls and plazas on State Street....

We had heard that Ventura has a similar fig and that the two cities compete in terms of who has the larger.... SB apparently wins the prize.... It is such a lovely tree and we are grateful that the good citizens of SB preserve it!
We were a bit lost and happened to drive by this amazing tree - we immediately jumped out of the car to take a picture, not knowing anything about it! Another car pulled up as we were leaving, but it's not much more than a random, giant tree! Totally worth seeing if you're in the neighborhood!
neat to see such a huge tree... you can just drive by- it's on the back side of the amtrack station. go in daylight
It is a beautiful tree and worth the two minute stop to see it. It's quite awe inspiring to see such a large tree.
Amazingly large tree, in an obscure location. There is another large fig tree at the Mission, but not as huge as this one!
