Fresh air, narrative, kids and adults, all intrigued by the living, moving, sometimes "other world" ambiance of huge estates and beauty of the coastline.
beautiful scenery. Winding roads up and down the mountain through residential areas. Views are spectacular. When you return down the mountain, plenty of parking for shopping down streets lined with mid to upscale shops and a variety of eateries. Very family friendly, lots of strollers. Gorgeous area. Take a light sweater when in the shade. Courthouse grounds are very pretty....

Santa Barbara, Hope Ranch, Montecito all beautiful areas. Easy to get around. The drive along the beach is lovely. Very different from east coast of New England.
some nice scenery and you get a feel for the area. just be careful, there are a few turns without marked signs.
Views are comparable to 7-Mile drive in Pebble Beach but without the monetary charge. Such a beautiful area. Just rolling down the window and listening to the gulls overhead and feeling the ocean breezes while overlooking the bobbing sailboats is worth it's weight in pleasure. Free.
Took a slow ride along the coast mid morning on a weekday. The weather was sunny and very little traffic. Nice view and easy drive
This isn't a terribly long drive and wont take a ton of time to complete. It offers some great views of the local homes and the Pacific/Channel Islands. Nice drive.
the drive from LAX the traffic is always something to deal with, but it seems that the SB area has more construction than usual
