Until we visited here my husband was not aware I had some Finnish blood coursing through my veins! A lot of good history and museum quality pieces to be seen here. Loved the painted cupboards in the kitchen.

On Tuesday, we went into town from our motel in Lompoc and saw the road signs directing us to the museum. Located in a residential...

If you are visiting the City of Solvang and want to know more about its Danish heritage than the pastries and souvenirs that abound, you could visit this Museum. It is off the beaten track and is housed in a former private home with the addition of an art gallery with changing exhibitions. Excellent gift shop of quality items.
We wandered into this delightful museum on a rainy day, and it was the highlight of our trip to Solvang. The museum guides were wonderful storytellers, and were so very welcoming. There is no fee, but donations are accepted, and deserved. This museum houses some very unique items, and shows a slice of Danish life and culture. The green kitchen...

The museum is filled with Danish treasures from the past. The docents are knowledgable and there was a woman demonstrating how to make lace- the kids...

Very interesting stop for an hour with only a $3 donation charge.
This is a charming museum a few blocks off the main street. It gives a nice overview of the local history, about how Danish immigrants came to Solvang and recreated their home town. It shows you what homes at the time would look like and how people lived. There's also some modern Danish art. It's suitable for children, and there's...

Solvang is definitely a tourist trap with authentic but distant Danish heritage. Elverhoj does a great job capturing the history of solvand and the local danish culture. Enjoyed it.
