We love the history of the museum and when my husband lived in Ukiah he bought gas at the station. There are pictures of this station in our family photo albums and dig.ital library

Self serve one room museum. This might have been an old gas station, Is cut from a single giant redwood tree, with two smaller redwood trees serving as restrooms in back, but they were not open. Funky but well maintained.
It's been around FOREVER. A service station made out of the lower trunk of a very large redwood. I believe it is no longer an operating service station, but certainly worth a stop.
Grew up in the area. Always loved the service station. Imagine a REAL tree large enough to house a small museum.
When I was a kid, driving to the redwoods and even through a redwood tree was a big deal. So, why not having a service station made out of a big redwood trunk. This is a piece of Americana. Enjoy it while you can.
Often driven by without a glance, take a moment to park and check this out! It was a gas station in the 1950´s (?), built out of a hollowed out Redwood trunk.
