There are many places in Colorado that just wreak of beauty and this is one of them. Climb, hike, picnic and bring the doggies.
Drove out to the Canyon through a really cool old West town. The road is dirt and full of potholes but it adds to the character. We saw several rock climbers and we took a nice hike on the Rattlesnake Gulch trail. It was a moderate hike that reveals and old hotel site and an overlook to the Continental Divide...

Easy to get to off of 93, a beautiful drive there, hike the trails in the one of a kind Flatirons, a different experience than other hikes around Denver, shady in spots, easy to moderate hiking.

Great hiking for almost any level - casual stroll to strenuous rocks. Talk to the knowledgeable rangers to get tips. It's great fun just to watch the rock climbers scaling these awesome peaks. Also good picnic grounds.
Not as much here to do as we expected. Probably because we're not climbers or heavy duty hikers. If you are, put this place on your "to-do" list.
Whether you enjoy being a specator to adventure or an experienced trained mountain climber, Eldorado Canyon is the place to go!! The canyon is a widely known world class climbing area as these "human" mountain goats make their way up the treacherous vertical sides of the canyon. How do they do that?!
Bring your camera, binoculars, and a picnic lunch...
