We went I to the building to simply look around and compare with our local one. After going through (friendly) security, who advised us that we might see a session in progress, we walked through the gracious building, finally ending up watching the senate in progress...which was interesting & a new experience for us.
This is a very nice capitol, may be problematic with parking, but really worth visiting. Amazing building, interesting exhibits, nice interiors. However, due to the work we could not visit the tower which made the experience only a half of the value. But it's all free, so go and enjoy!
You can mark exactly where you are 1 mile above sea-level. That's pretty awesome. And it's free, so, no reason not to go. As to the building itself, it could use a paint job, or a power wash or something, not as pretty as other capitols.
Very ornate building with a lot to see for a history buff/government geek. Dome currently being refurbished, and construction gates blocked some of the grounds. Would like to go again when I have more time to explore.
A State Capital is a must for us to visit wherever we go. We had free tour, and it took about an hour and haft. It is great for Kids and for anyone who are interested about History. The State Capital in Denver is located in beautiful and easy find for tourist. We were enjoyed it.
An amazing building which offers great views of the front range from both the front steps and the higher floors.
I didn't do the tour, just on my own. The view from the Capitol onto the city is picture perfect and the architecture inside is phenomenal. If you are in Denver, you must visit this architectural beauty.
Immense property. Be prepared for security clearance as you enter - adds a small delay. We participated in their free tour. The photos speak volumes of the architecture. On our visit we were unable to go to the dome - it is under construction. Lots of stairs but there is a small elevator.
Wonderfully lead tours with knowledgable guides. I found the rotunda an amazing view. The fact that the dome is covered with Colorado gold is an interesting aside. First covered with copper because of price it turned an ugly green and then gold was discovered in Colorado and the rest, as they say, is history.
