This multiuse trail follows the meanderings of the Animas River as it travels many miles from the North of Durango, CO to the very South end of Durango. It is very wide, paved, and smooth. Great for a run, hike, or bike. Follows along the Durango and Silverton train tracks on portions of the trail - - so wave to... More

This trail is constantly in use by cyclists, walkers, runners and just sightseers. I always use it in the summer for bike rides to avoid the traffic on the main roads, but both visitors and locals use this gem every month of the year.

My wife and I walked part of this trail in January. It was beautiful. The trail was a bit icy and the river was frozen. However, we must have still seen a dozen people walking their dogs or with their kids. If you are staying any where downtown then the trail is within walking distance. Definitely worth a stroll. Enjoy!

We rode out bikes along this trail early in the morning before it heated up for the day... The trail is nice and easy to follow and it was fun to watch the rafters on the river as we rode along!

This is a wonderful addition for the outdoor visitor in Durango! It's even better for the Durangotang who uses it for their daily commute to work, school, or shopping. The path is plowed in the winter and patrolled at all times.

Walk or ride your bike along the river. Just mind the traffic rules lest you get clipped. It's busy because everyone uses it. Stroll and chat, commute to work or watch the river go by...

This is a wonderful walking trail and also a great place to ride your bike. The river is so beautiful. It's very peaceful yet there is a lot of energy.

Dog doo, screaming children and racing bike commuters. This paved "trail" is not for nature lovers. It's handy if you live near it in town as it is sometimes the most direct way to get places. But as far as recreation, there are a million other places nearby that are nicer and less crowded. People tend to blatantly disregard the... More
