It was an amazing ride to the top and back! I would have never survived the drive to the top and back down...lol...so the cog railway was the way to go! Wear pants and bring jackets to the top! it was extremely cold and windy! Great shop at the top, but very spendy! I would do this again!

Clatter from about 7,000 feet to 14,100 feet in a little over an hour. The seating on the cog rail cars isn't particularly comfortable, but nobody really seemed to care. This is an experience, not a luxury tour. Caution...if you have problems with high elevations, this may not be for you. Check with your doctor before including the cog railway... More

Three of us rode the Cog Railway round trip. Fantastic views, but the tram cars are very uncomfortable. You are assigned seats, with 2 or 3 facing each others. The seats are shaped, but hard, and hard on the back. Very little leg room to your facing passengers. If you are seated next to a bulkhead, the views are severely... More

This could be a good experience but it appears the operators are using the popularity of the mountain to maximize profits and give little consideration to the paying customers. It is a three hour return trip and you get cheap nasty plastic seating. If you are seated facing backwards you are constantly slipping forward especially on the steeper grades. Also... More

Though I like train travel of any kind this trip was very uncomfortable due to the small size of the seats. Also the seats where just hard seats with no seat cushions. There was barely any room to move. The good part was that our conductor Daryl? was very informative and entertaining. The views from the window seats are outstanding.... More

On a snowy day, the snow-plow train hadn't cleared the track all the way to the top, so we only made it to 12,000 feet. Our friend, who has taken this trip before, was disappointed that we missed out on the freshly made donuts at the top. We were happy with the trip, though. Here's what you need to know... More

it was an amazing climb up the steep mountain. We were really luck with the weather also. I do recommend doing this if visiting Denver. We passed through Garden of the Gods on the way here which is also an amazing place. Do bring a sweater since its cooold on the top! And NO Gluten Free food!

To begin, the seats are hard and uncomfortable. My rear end hurt. Sitting backward on an incline is uncomfortable. It takes an hour and a half to ride up. I'd imagine children would get antsy. Not sure I'd take them. So the ride up and down takes three hours. What's the good parts? How many chances to you get to... More

This tour was well-planned and incorporated a cheerful Conductor. Rather than driving to the peak ourselves; we opted to take the train, and it did not disappoint. The Conductor offered a neat guided tour with a since of humor along the way. Many spots for photos. Must try a fresh donut at the top of the mountain. Drink water along... More

We booked this excursion in February and hoped for a clear day. Unfortunately, it snowed and we did not make it to the top of Pikes Peak. I must give credit to the staff, they did say we could reschedule. Unfortunately our trip was planned and there was no leeway. It was overcast and there was little visibility near the... More
