This house and museum is probably the best tourist attraction in Hartford, CT ever. I gazed for hours at the statues and paintings and such. I had wondered where Mark Twain had gotten all of them from. Next time I visit, I'll have to go during the ghost tours, where tourists can tour the house at night and experience it... More

The Mark Twain House and Museum is hands-down the best tour and learning experience you can have. Not only do you learn about a world famous author who CHOSE to live in Hartford, but you learn about the period in which he lived, the trappings of the "gilded age", and more serious topics like prejudice. The Twain House has the... More

We had an informative and interesting tour with Ray at the Mark Twain House today. So glad they still do things the old fashioned way with a real live tour guide. The home is beautiful, hand stenciled patterns in silver and gold leaf on most walls. I guess what struck me most is that it was a warm and welcoming... More

Our guide was really quite pleasant and overall very informative, but did not have answers to a few of the questions I had. Still, it was a wonderfully full and complete tour and glimpse into the life and times that 'Sam' ( as she referred to him as ) spent here with his family for 17 years. He is quoted... More

My wife and I were fortunate to tour this facility with a docent who truly loved his responsibility. It proabably made all the difference and we had a delightful time. We also took an additional tour which higlighted the servents quarters and roles the performed. The facility is certainly worth the time and effort to experience. The museum has chosen... More

I came here on two school field trips, one year after the other. The first time I took the tour and was really impressed by the depth of knowledge of the tour guide. Going to his house really gives you a great insight to the person Twain (Samuel Clemens) was. His house is not just a few walls, some glass... More

What a beautiful home! We did the combined Twain/Stowe tour and it was an excellent and informative experience. You will gain a new perspective on both writers and get a glimpse into their lives and families. The details in the Twain house are stunning. Staff is well informed and there is a great interpretive center to wander around before the... More

Visited the Mark Twain House for the Haunted tour as they have been proven that there are spirits there and the tour was a lot of fun. Want to go back during the day to see more of the home as it is very old and the architecture inside is absolutely beautiful. The only problem is there are a lot... More
