No trip to Key West is complete without a trip to the Hemingway house (unless you hate cats, in which case avoid this). Walking through the house and grounds, as well as Hemingway's writing studio, gives one insight into the writing and the historical context in which the wrting was done.

We were glad we took the time to do this while in Key West as so much of the key's culture is built around the Hemingway history. Beautiful home, great tour guide, very worthwhile!

The tours are very good. The house is nice and cool so its a nice escape for hot days. There are cats everywhere. Lots of gardens to wander in and enjoy.

Unique as the man who wrote an American literary heritage here. This house is the largest private residence in Key West and an interesting tour.

Get the guided tour if you are planning to visit. The guide shared a lot ot information that would be missed by just walking around. The cats were like little people. One was sleeping on the bed, another on top of a display case, a third lying on a table on the patio and three more in the gift shop.... More

Fascinating place that has been looked after and be sure to take the tour! My only comment would be the entry price but it is worth paying and looking around the house and garden!

THANK YOU very much U.K. for your 5-star review! We are gald you enjoyed the tour. The admission cost does support the 160 year old mansion, 1-acre of lush gardens, 45 polydactyl cats and full time staff. Comparatively the conch train tour is about $31 and a snorkel trip to the reef $41. Our admission at $13 seems reasonable considering... More

Enjoyed walking through the house and garden. Lots of pictures on the walls. Helps if you know something about him prior, or take the tour; which we did not do as there was such a large group doing it. Lots of shade outside so good to do when hot. The cats were friendly

So beautiful. Lived the cats. Worked hard to get photos. The trees were amazing. The history inside the house was cool, simple and beautiful.

A must if you've read his books. The docent was well studied and explained Hemingways life thoroughly. He made you want to learn more about this man.
