On July 1, 2011, the Museum merged with the Florida Institute of Technology. A $1 million gift was received from the Foosaner Foundation to benefit the Museum, now officially known as the Foosaner Art Museum. The Museum is a gathering place, a visitor attraction, a landmark, an anchor, a catalyst for change; we exist to educate and to deliver a message that will encourage people to think differently about their relationship to others and the world; a center of creativity, the Museum collects, displays and interprets all aspects of the visual arts, particularly women artists, in ways that relate to the past, to the present, and to the future. The Foosaner Art Museum’s permanent collection is comprised of five categories: Modern and Contemporary Art, The Conill Mendoza Collection of American Industrial Design, Asian Art, Cultural Education Collection and Women Artists.Throughout the year, visitors can experience a changing selection from the Museum’s permanent collection. Lectures, Jazz Fridays and Free Thursdays are just a few events that populate our ongoing calendar. We visited the museum because of a german artist special exhibit. It is free on thursdays. It has a cute gift shop with very nice things. A walk through the area where the museum is located with old, historical, nice houses makes it a good, relaxing afternoon trip.

This pleasant museum used to be called the Brevard County Art Museum. They always have interesting changing exbibits--the current one takes up the one floor of the museum. Great black and white photographs done in the 60s by French photographer Leon Herschtritt. Lots of easy free street parking in this old, historic area of the city.

Very interesting exhibits. Worth the trip. IF you like art you'll love Foosaner! The place is easy to find and does not take more than a half an hour or so but i highly recommend it.

some of the exhibits I still remember, because they were so creative. I'd go back regularly if I could.

This is no longer called "Brevard" art Museum. It's not administered by the local university (Florida Institute of Technology). The museum is small but they always have interesting exhibits. One I attended in the past that enjoyed was the "Art of Networks" where scientists show how art can be important to understand science.

Traveling exhibits, small but cozy, frequented by locals. Season passes available, but a typical visit will run you about 5-10$. Rarely busy.

Had to visit twice as the e habits were being swapped out. When we were able to see it, we felt cheated. I wanted my time back, walked out feeling no more enriched and trying to explain to my daughter that this was an anomaly. Would not go back.

I was so unhappy when I went to visit this Museum. Or should I say minute walk through building with art that no museum would want. :( Melbourne is disappointing, and this was no exception!

Small but nice. Local. Worth a half-day trip. It's not the large art gallery many are used to, but there are often local displays that are worth the visit.
