We like to go to libraries on vacations if we can. Just a fun hobby to see how information and pleasure reading used to be distributed prior to nooks, kindles, and the internet. This is a charming library with a very good selection. A nice break from the heat of the beach.

Bit weird, right, to go to a library when on holiday but this place has all the latest books, plenty of DVDs, magazines and CDs so now I just pay my $10 annual membership everytime we go to Sanibel and save a stash of cash on airport book purchases! The staff are sooo nice and helpful, the place is lovely... More

I thought it was kind of funny that the Sanibel Library was the number one attraction of Trip Advisor when Sanibel has so many beautiful beaches, bike riding, kayaking, and so on. So on a day we had some free time, we wanted to see this amazing library. It is a very nice, well constructed library, but living in Nashville,... More

This is always a stop on our visits to Sanibel. We enjoy not having to pack a beach book, we just stop by and check out a few for the week. Just off the main drag but well worth the trip.

We didn't want to pay $9 each to visit the shell museum, so we stopped by here. There's loads of shells on display... and if you need to see more, go to the beach! Very large clean library.

If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful and serene place, stop in at the Sanibel Library. Browse the wonderful display of shells on the main floor and skip paying admission/donation fees at the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum. Have your kids (or you) sit in the SL Readmore rowboat for a wonderful photo opp and then browse through their sale room... More

For atmosphere and service, this is a true sanctuary for readers and writers of all ages. I've spent time in libraries all over the country and Sanibel stands out. If it had a cafe, I could live there. Good thing the library is in the educational mode, exclusively.

What an amazing library. Very organized with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. I love that you can trade puzzles, look at a shell exhibit AND a fossil exhibit. Fossils were collected in the parking lot area when the library was being built. Fascinating! It has such a warm and friendly feel. The back patio/deck has rocking chairs where you can... More

went to print boarding passes. Very nice and courteous people though I didn't have time to linger. As I worked for the Free Library of Phila. I was impressed.
