If you are in the Ocala area, perhaps at the Silver Springs attraction, get off the amusement ride/noisy chaos train and head on over to this SP. For the reasonable sum of 6 dollars per carload, you can enter a small section of Florida the way it has been for centuries. A walk down the Swamp Trail and a loop...

Not the most exciting State Park we visited during our trip, but it was nice enough. We walked the swamp trail, thought we were going to be attacked by a bear.... but it turned out to be an armadillo... they make a lot of noise for a small creature! The Cracker Village wasn't open when we were there, but you...

Our family has camped here over the years, however, unfortunately the Park is steadily declining and is not being maintaned as before. One of several examples is one clothes washer for 60 camp sites. Staff mentioned that the other washer has been on order for over 4 weeks. Give me one our and I can buy a new one. It...

Cabins are huge and well appointed, with a wrap around screened porch with rockers and a picnic table. The park is just the right size for hiking, canoeing the beautiful Silver River and relaxing in the "real" Florida.

We take our 14' boat down the Silver River to the Springs and then turn around and come back. Lots of great scenery -- looks like something from Disney.
This picturesque park sits on the Silver River. Clouded with Spanish miss and live oaks this park hosts a variety of outdoor activities. Hiking, biking, camping, and canoeing are all offered here. There's also a rustic old cracker village and an old glass bottom boat that make there homes here. This is truly a gem of a state park.
We put our boat in at the park on Hwy 40, by the big Barge Canal bridge. The facilities were spanking clean, from the restrooms to the grounds. The docks are well maintained; might be a bit difficult for older folks to climb into the boat from the dock ladders, but there are other places you can get in the...
