We live close to Alfred B. Maclay Gardens and often picnic at the lake. So when our friend Sherry came to visit from North Carolina, we decided to take her there. We knew that she loved to see formal and historic gardens, so our local jewel was a must see. The weather cooperated with cool and sunny weather with light... More

This is a lovely small park with many different landscaping features. The walks go by the water and give a broad view of sea and sky. There are also highly manicured lawns and gardens with seating and ponds.

Not to be missed on any visit to Tallahassee during the late winter/early spring months. A true local treasure.

I have visited Maclay Gardens State Park numerous times to use their mountain bike facilites. I recently visited and had lunch there with some friends. I found the staff to be very helpful and informative about the park and its history. The park and it's trails can be confusing at times if there is no map availiabe. Luckily a park... More

Beuatiful Garden trails , old hunting lodge overlooking lake. If you like to walk this is a great experience. Take a lunch and eat down by the lake.

This is a great place to visit with the family. Hiking and biking trails and when it warms up--good swimming. We went this time for a picnic and to see the azaleas. They were beautiful!

The camellias make a great show in winter months and in spring the azaleas are lovely. The gardens have water features as well and many other plants to admire.

If you enjoy walking or bike riding, Maclay Gardens offers the perfect setting. Stunning landscape, including acres of magnolias and camellias, a lkae and a reflecting pool are visual treats for walkers who can stoll along a brick pathway or meander down secondary paths. End up at a lovely hitoric home/museum to lern more about the original owners ad their... More

On March 7, 2013 I was enchanted as I experienced the beauty of these gardens. The azaleas and camellias were in full bloom! The landscaping is lovely and the home visit worthwhile. Being from Maryland, which was experiencing some wintery prognostications, I was overjoyed to experience an early spring knowing that I would experience another one in five or so... More
