Worth a visit. Lots of Native artwork and photos plus local donations of everyday items used from the 1800s, gives you a good look at how Salmon was way back when.

May 9/19 - we spent a wonderful couple of hours in this fascinating museum, ably assisted by a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteer (all for the ridiculously low price of $2 per person).
A lovely collection of artifacts and exhibits tell the story of Salmon and the surrounding area, stories of the native American and the white man, with the discovery of gold in the 1860's, Salmon prospering from the gold rush, timber trade and ranching, et al.
Not the Smithsonian but an important local museum providing a window into a world and lifestyle long gone.
It is well worth a visit and can highly recommend.

A great place to take a break and learn more about the area around you. Great use of space in downtown Salmon. Even better, it is FREE!

I was doing a "Bucket List" tour and visiting Cemeteries of my family. My family had lived in Salmon since the early 1800's. I had a couple things I wanted to give to the Lemhi Museum. A wonderful lady let me in at closing time and was so pleasant to visit with. She was happy to get my items and suggested that I come back the next morning when it opened and talk to the lady at that time. I did and was pleased to find out that my Grandfather had preformed her marriage 56 yrs. ago!! It is a beautiful museum and I would recommend it for everyone especially those interested in history. I will be sending more family items to the museum because I now know how much they appreciate them.

Great history lesson portrayed in this museum. It gives you the feeling of being in this town when it first was established and going forward to current Ranchers and Memorable People Here. Learned so much and it had great volunteers that gave you that extra. Go here for sure. Have dinner after in town.

This is a small but nice museum right on Main Street. It contains some very interesting relics from the early days of Salmon and the surrounding area. Some of the Native American artifacts are beautiful. It is fun to combine a visit to this museum with a visit to the Sacajawea Center only a mile or so south of town. The Sac Center has a lot of information about the Lewis and Clark Expedition which came right through Salmon. There are really nice walking trails as well.
