Beaches are average, lots of wild life, camping areas, and the largest man-made lake in Illinois. No restaurants in the immediate area, so bring your own food.

Nice Lake With A Lot Of Facilities. Nice PLace To Walk. Good Fishing All Around Lake. Lake Can Get Crowded On The Weekend.

Nice facilities for boaters and fishermen. There is a beach, but that's about it. Not much else to do when the sun goes down.

Walked some trails around Eldon Hazlet State Park that were beautifully kept, easy to get around, well marked, and had interesting information.

Pretty good fishing at a very large lake. Several fun activities available for families and sportsmen.

Great marina and beautful view also great walking area around lake. Watch out for the deer at night while driving.

dam west campground is a very quiet, place to camp. would recommend staying. weve stayed there 3 times already. shady spots , spaced nicely, clean shower house, lots of places to ride bikes. would recomend eating at the lighthouse restaurant there. within walking distance of the campground. bosco sticks are excellent there.

The lake offers a expanse of water for sailing, jet skis, and boating. The marina in Carlyle is very good and the staff there helpful. The staff in the visitor center consistently is grumpy and you are left wondering why they are there with their poor attitude.
