I love all things Japanese and based on what I had read, I knew I had to visit these gardens. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly. Of all the places I saw on my recent trek through northern Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, this was certainly one of the top highlights. Highly recommended!

I love Japanese gardens and this is my favorite. I love bringing younger kids who think they will be bored but soon are entranced. Great koi ponds..great to feed then. Truly a tranquil oasis. They upkeep it very very well.

The gardens are absolutely beautiful! Prices are great too. Bring your student ID for a discount. Don't let entering the town of Rockford scare you!

Anderson Japanese Gardens is a fauna nirvana located in the heart of Rockford, IL. It has beautiful gardens designed by a master Japanese gardener, beautiful ponds and falls, finely maintained sand areas. The restaurant is also very good. Combined, you will experience beauty, peace and serenity. These gardens are worth the trip to Rockford, IL.

This place does not have the scale of the Japanese gardens in larger cities but it's beautifully maintained and serenly peaceful. Definitely worth a look if you happen to be in Rockford.

In a wonderful area with water features, a beautifully designed garden and a great but pricey restaurant. Get a docent to give you a tour. Ours, emily, was knowledgable and intelligent. Loved her commentary. Surprising to find such a gem in Rockford.

Great variety of plants well manicured. Excellent water features and finely combed sand areas. Plenty to see and close to home. If you've not been why wait any longer?

We had heard about these gardens from friends, and since we were passing through Rockford we decided to make a point of visiting . . . it was so worth the effort. What a beautiful and peaceful oasis! It's the perfect place to stroll or sit and enjoy the natural surroundings accented with artfully placed Japanese ponds, bridges, and walkways.... More
