This reproduction fort is right in town. We accessed it by parking at Lawton Park and walking a short distance on a trail over a bridge. We were able to walk into the courtyard of the fort and inspect all around it - the area is apparently open all the time.

There are no signs to direct you to the fort. You can see it over a slight hill as you drive by. There are no signs for parking for the fort. We saw a parking area with a few cars and decided to stop. We asked someone if this was parking for the fort and they said that they thought it was. We walked along a path that looked like any other walking path and found that it eventually did lead to the fort. We were there 15 minutes after the fort was scheduled to open. The front gate to the fort was open, but that was it. There were about 6 or 8 buildings. There was a brochure that defined the original usage of the buildings. All of the buildings were locked and all of the windows had shutters that were closed. There were no personnel around. It took longer to walk from the parking lot to the fort than it did to see the entire fort. This attraction is not worth the waste of time.

It was a pleasant place to walk around, but none of the buildings were open because it wasn't one of the special weekends, so it wasn't too interesting.

We stopped by to see the fort and relive some Fort Wayne history. There were school groups there and they were gracious enough to let us enjoy the fort in between the groups. We learned a LOT.

Historic Fort Wayne was the first stop on my week long road trip. I stopped mainly to photograph the fort and was surprised by how nice it was. I walked all around it and could even go into the fort, which is really nice. The people working the area were all dressed in period clothing. It was really cool. I'm glad I stopped in.

This is a cool little spot I found off chance. Not a whole lot to it but definitely some history to be learned. I thought it was put together well, well kept and worth stopping to see.

Parking is tricky because there isn’t any parking on site. You have to park nearby and walk, there is a parking lot across the streets so keep your eyes open for it.

There is free parking across the street which is always a plus. There is no fee for visiting, but do take donations. I went on a "good" day since the recreation buildings were open for viewing. There were a few reenactors on site to provide some detailed information about the fort's history, information about some of the key figures, and Fort Wayne overall history. I enjoyed it.

The historical significance of the Old Fort was evident in this well-presented exhibit. We couldn't get into the buildings as they were setting up for a Revolutionary War era demonstration for the weekend, but the folks there were very friendly and eager to answer our questions.

Nice place for a walk if you're in the area, but not worth making a special trip. As we expected, from reading other reviews, the fort was closed and is only open for special occasions/reenactments, so overall not much to see or do there.

I stumbled upon this park and bridge quite by accident. Having twenty minutes to spare despite being on business, this park with its Historic Fort Wayne and MLK Memorial Bridge was worth a quiet and serene walk. Historic Fort Wayne is a rebuilt replica of the old Fort. It’s so well done that I actually thought the original had been restored/maintained. I would love to see it during an active time when they are doing reenactments or festivals. Right next door is the Martin Luther King Memorial Bridge. I know it’s only a bridge but it was a beautifully designed monument to a great man. Quotes line the railing all across the bridge. The entire experience was a pleasant surprise.
