Had a chance to visit the museum and get a tour by Elvin Smith Jr - resident Hardin Co historian It was great - i learned so much. Brought the kids here from Ft Knox, to learn more about the local area. My 5 year old loved the general store exhibit and the log cabin replica. Great info about Abe Lincoln in the back. My visit was preceded by over an hour in 100 degree heat and was less attentive than usual. Wish I could return and read all that was available. Probably could spend three hours or more if everything was read. This has to be one of the best "small town" museums I've ever visited. Professional looking and very interesting displays, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, a large selection of historic books to purchase, and a great genealogy room.

The Hardin County History Museum, in a old great building on Main Street next to the old State Theatre, was a pretty cool little museum.
