A lovely art museum, although much smaller than even the art museums in Cincy and Indy. Some really wonderful pieces. Currently closed due to a major renovation. So disappointed they'll be closed for so long. But can't wait to see the opening.

great place to spend an afternoon, especially since it was raining all day. Lovely art exhibits. Wandered at our leisure.
The Museum galleries and Art Sparks are temporarily closed for construction. But when they were open the museum rivals those of NY and Phila. A great place for a date with my husband to view beautiful pieces of art. People were friendly and the exhibits were patron friendly.

Even though the Speed Art Museum is closed for renovations at the moment, it's a great place to visit to see famous artist as well as local artist works.

Having traveled and visited several art museums I can tell you I was sorely disappointed in the small amount of cool art--you know, the stuff that is recognizable on coffee cups and other kitsch. I just wanted to see some cool art.
We went to the Speed Museum as a second or third choice after some other attractions fell through when we had company come to Louisville to visit us. Some of our party were U of L students, so they got discounted admission, so that was nice to save a few bucks. There was a lot more to see here than...
