This is a gorgeous cemetery and I highly recommend driving through it if you're in the area. It's very large (17 miles) but easily accessible by driving. I would stop by the visitors office and get a map because if you don't, you will most likely get lost.

The grounds are very well kept and an interesting place to visit. The trees add lots of shade and tranquility to area.

Huge and beautiful. We took our kids there for a walk and ended up going twice while in town. Lots of history

Walked to cemetery from downtown Marriott, a hike but easy walk, and many good choices of restaurants. Used our iPhone and ended up walking thru the smaller, unkept cemetery next to Cave Hill first. Couldn't understand all the rave reviews I had read.....silly us, we came out and then came upon the correct one! Very interesting, and especially beautiful this... More

It is a huge cemetery which you can drive through or walk. I recommend a drive first and then walk if you have time or want to see more things up close.

My husband thought that I was nuts when I suggested going to the cemetary for "sightseeing". The grounds, the monuments, the setting, is beyond words. It truly is a sight to see!

I'm marking this average only because we arrived shortly before the cemetery closed, and they are strict about the hours (which are weird—I think it closes at 4:45 or something). Still, we were able to drive through, and that alone whetted our appetite for returning and exploring. Beautiful cemetery with amazing markers!

It may seem odd to check out a cemetary on vacation...unless of course you go to Gettysburg; but this place is also on the National Register. It's grounds are nearly300 acres of not only the final resting place of many of Kentucky's notable citizens; but a well manicured park as well. there is so much history to be soaked in.... More

Since moving back to Louisville we have taken a lot of our visitors to tour Cave Hill Cemetery particularly in the spring when the flowers are in bloom and again in the fall when the colors are so great. So many interesting massive monuments from the 1800's as well as the 1900's. Very moving sections on the Union and Confederate... More

Very pretty cemetery. Don't miss Col. Sanders grave. Beautiful lake and many nice headstones. No charge to just visit. go there when the office is open to get a map.
